Your role and responsibilities The IBM Core Software Center of Excellence (CoE) provides the standards, best practices, tools, and operational frameworks that help engineering teams deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable software. The CoE supports teams across IBM Core Software by enabling consistent execution, improving delivery workflows, and advancing engineering maturity. The Junior Technical Project Manager plays an important role in supporting these initiatives, coordinating cross-team work, and helping ensure that engineering teams have what they need to adopt and operationalize CoE-driven standards. The Technical Project Manager (PM) is an early-career role ideal for someone with foundational project coordination or technical experience who is eager to grow into a full technical program manager career path. You will partner with engineering leads, product management leads and CoE specialists to help track progress of initiatives, contribute to process improvements, and support the rollout of standards across global engineering teams. This role focuses on learning, coordination, operational support, and building confidence in managing technical workstreams. Key Responsibilities Support CoE Programs & Workstreams Manage CoE initiatives related to engineering standards, tooling improvements, governance, and process enhancements. Help maintain project schedules, action logs, and status updates across multiple teams. Coordinate tasks, meeting follow-ups, and documentation for project workstreams. Cross-Team Coordination Work closely with engineering and product teams to gather updates and track dependencies. Support communication between technical teams and business stakeholders. Help identify blockers and escalate risks when needed. Operational Excellence Contribute to documentation of best practices, process guides, playbooks, and team resources. Assist with data gathering and reporting on KPIs, dashboards, and quality metrics. Support continuous improvement activities such as retrospectives, workflow analysis, and standards adoption. Help prepare documentation and evidence for security, architecture, or compliance reviews. Assist with readiness checklists, audits, and release preparation activities. Required technical and professional expertise Experience in project coordination, engineering operations, software delivery support, or an equivalent technical role. Foundational understanding of Agile workflows, Scrum ceremonies, or modern software development practices. Ability to learn technical concepts and participate in discussions involving engineering teams. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Comfortable creating documentation, tracking tasks, and supporting multiple workstreams. Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or similar project tracking systems.
