Senior Electrical Engineer | Science and Advanced Manufacturing Join HED as a valued member of our team, where your experience in electrical engineering will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering technical systems for innovative projects within the science and advanced manufacturing sector. You'll have the opportunity to work on diverse facilities such as R&D labs, testing labs, high-volume manufacturing setups, and central utility plants. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and documentation processes for building systems from schematics to construction administration. Coordinate regularly with the project supervisor to ensure successful project development and performance. Demonstrate expert knowledge in key design areas including: Power Distribution Lighting and Controls Fire Alarm Systems Technical writing for specifications and energy conservation/sustainability. Act as the Project Discipline Team Leader on large and complex assignments, ensuring effective management of the project team. Prepare and oversee project budgets, status reports, and man-hour estimates. Conduct necessary code research and maintain an Electrical Basis of Design Journal for ongoing projects. Engage in thorough material and product research to support project development. Attend project meetings and interface with other discipline leaders to ensure cohesive project development. Provide prompt responses to client inquiries within 24 hours. Conduct documentation reviews during bidding and construction phases. Mentor and monitor staff to uphold high standards of service and collaboration within the project team. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Non-Project Related Duties Mentor engineer support staff and prepare them for greater responsibilities. Deliver feedback to the Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader regarding the performance of support engineers. Identify and implement improvements to enhance quality and service delivery. Engage in in-house training and participate in relevant professional organizations. Share insights on field feedback and new technologies with the department. Recognize team members for outstanding work and contributions beyond expectations. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and active professional engineering licensure are required. LEED Accredited status is preferred. A minimum of six years of experience in the architecture/engineering industry is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of services from schematic design to project completion, along with strong technical expertise. Understanding of coordination requirements across multiple design disciplines. Experience with short circuit and selective coordination calculations; familiarity with SKM, ETAP, or similar software is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills alongside strong organizational abilities. Ability to motivate, mentor staff, and delegate tasks effectively. Proficient in computer applications, including CADD/Revit. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, with the adaptability to thrive in deadline-driven environments. Physical Requirements Willingness to travel to project sites for meetings and evaluations. Capability to assess existing and new project sites for observation and assessment. Ability to utilize equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform essential job functions.
