Job Title Jr Inspector (Pedestrian Ramp for DDC) Location Hirani New York City Office - New York, NY 10001 US (Primary) Job Type Full-time Category Inspection Travel 75 - 90% Job Description Job Description: Pedestrian Inspector for DDC Project in Brooklyn / Queens, NY Position Overview: As a Pedestrian Inspector for the Department of Design and Construction (DDC) project in the Brooklyn / Queens, NY. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and compliance of pedestrian facilities during the construction phase of the project. You will work closely with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that pedestrian infrastructure is constructed according to established guidelines and regulations. Key Responsibilities: Inspection and Compliance: Conduct regular inspections of pedestrian infrastructure, such as sidewalks, crosswalks, ramps, and pedestrian signals, to ensure compliance with project specifications, relevant codes, and accessibility standards. Verify that construction activities adhere to approved plans, design requirements, and safety regulations. Identify and document any deviations, deficiencies, or safety hazards, and promptly communicate them to the project team for corrective action. Collaborate with contractors and project staff to address compliance issues and ensure timely resolution. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, including photographs, measurements, and detailed reports. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports to the project manager, highlighting observations, recommendations, and corrective actions taken. Assist in the preparation of progress reports and contribute to the overall project documentation. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with the project team, including engineers, designers, and construction personnel, to ensure a coordinated approach to pedestrian infrastructure inspections. Attend project meetings to provide updates on inspection activities, discuss any issues or concerns, and contribute to decision-making processes. Communicate with stakeholders, such as local authorities, community members, and the public, to address inquiries, complaints, or feedback related to pedestrian facilities. Quality Control: Participate in quality control activities by conducting field measurements, material tests, and performance evaluations. Monitor the construction process to ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and specifications. Identify opportunities for improvement and suggest modifications to enhance the quality and functionality of pedestrian facilities. Safety and Risk Management: Adhere to strict safety protocols and promote a culture of safety on the construction site. Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate measures to mitigate risks. Report any safety incidents or violations to the project manager and assist in the investigation of accidents or near-miss occurrences. Job Requirements Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in construction, civil engineering, or a related field preferred Valid driver's license is a must Proven experience in construction inspection with a focus on pedestrian facilities and infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, ADA accessibility guidelines, and industry standards related to pedestrian infrastructure. Familiarity with construction plans, drawings, and specifications. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify defects or deviations from design requirements. Proficient in using inspection tools, equipment, and software for documenting and reporting findings. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of safety regulations and commitment to promoting a safe working environment. Must-Have: 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in pedestrian ramp construction or inspection. ACI Grade I - Field Concrete Technician OSHA 30 Salary: $55 per hour
