Job Description

A Plastics Weigh Up Operator (often classified under roles like Plastic Material Handler, Color Mix Operator, or Compounder) is responsible for accurately measuring, mixing, and preparing raw plastic resins, colorants, and additives according to formula sheets to support manufacturing production. They ensure the correct material is loaded into machines, maintain inventory, and perform quality checks on materials. 1st Shift Mon- Thursday 5am- 3:00pm Pay Rate: $19.50/hr Core Responsibilities Material Preparation: Weighing resins, colorants, and other chemicals based on formula cards for injection molding or extrusion processes. Machine Loading: Loading, blending, and ensuring the proper mixture is fed into machines. Quality Control: Performing material tests (e.g., moisture content tests) to ensure raw materials meet specifications. Inventory & Documentation: Maintaining material inventory, cleaning work areas, and recording accurate data for production, including scrap weights. Equipment Maintenance: Setting up and monitoring auxiliary equipment such as dryers, loaders, and conveyors. Physical Demands and Requirements Lifting: Frequently required to lift and move up to 25-50 lbs. Movement: Standing for long periods, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending are common. Environment: Often in a manufacturing setting, potentially exposed to loud noises or extreme temperatures. Skills: Ability to read and understand work orders, basic math skills, and familiarity with scales or precision measuring tools. Typical Qualifications High School Diploma or GED is generally preferred. Previous experience in plastic manufacturing or as a machine operator is a plus, but many positions offer on-the-job training.
