Systems Administrator (Junior-Mid Level) Location: Detroit, MI (Romulus, MI) - Onsite, 5 days per week Employment Type: Long-Term Contract-to-Hire Work Authorization: No OPT/CPT/F1 Interview Requirement: Must be able to interview in person Job Summary We are seeking a Junior/Mid-Level Systems Administrator (Systems Administrator I / Systems Engineer) to support our onsite enterprise infrastructure environment. This role involves installing, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting compute, storage, virtualization, and Microsoft-based systems within a 24×7×365 operation. The ideal candidate will support both project-based initiatives and daily operations while adhering to established processes and best practices. Responsibilities Install, configure, manage, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions. Support system architecture across compute, storage, virtualization, and desktop environments. Provide on-call/after-hours support as needed in a 24×7×365 environment. Assist with the implementation of technology projects aligned with departmental and organizational objectives. Create, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation. Generate performance and capacity reports and assist with planning. Establish and conduct preventive maintenance (PM) schedules. Provide technical guidance to internal teams and contractors. Participate in data center operations, including hardware installations (rack-and-stack). Perform additional related duties as assigned. Required Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field OR High School Diploma plus 2+ years of enterprise infrastructure experience Required Experience (1-2+ years) Systems & Platforms Windows Server 2019 / 2022 Windows Desktop OS Active Directory Hardware Dell PowerEdge HP ProLiant Physical server and storage administration Storage Systems Compellent Pure Storage DataDomain Virtualization VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSphere Additional Technical Knowledge Microsoft 365 user administration Microsoft Defender or similar security platforms Exchange (Online or On-Prem) Backup and recovery tools (e.g., Veeam) Azure fundamentals (Azure AD, governance basics) SCCM or Intune (basic familiarity) PowerShell (basic scripting/usage) Other Requirements Ability to lift up to 30 lbs Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Willingness to continuously learn and support enterprise operations Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have) VMware vSAN Wasabi Cloud Azure Copilot AI Certificate Authority management Disaster Recovery planning, testing, documentation Experience with tools such as Recast, ManageEngine, ServiceNow, SolarWinds, Adobe General understanding of information security principles Exposure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI - IaaS/PaaS) Linux, DevOps, or container technologies Awareness of emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, etc.) Preferred Certifications Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert Azure Solutions Architect Expert Windows Server Hybrid Administrator VMware certifications (VCTA, VCAP, VCDX, vSAN) Pure Storage certifications Dell PowerEdge / PowerScale certifications Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
