Description The Marketing Intern position is intended to give a college student or recent graduate practical experience managing social media profiles, including content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and evaluation. Training provided. Objectives: Assist the student's development of social media management skills, including how to incorporate branding guidelines, match existing tone and voice, and create/edit photos and videos. Applicants should submit: 1. a cover letter explaining your interest in social media in general and in this position specifically; 2. a resume outlining your experience; and 3. a list of any social media channels you have managed or links to content you have created. TIME COMMITMENT 1-2 hours per week Flexible hours Duration: 3-6 months Location: Onsite (126 S. State St, Westerville, OH 43081) and online RESPONSIBILITIES Working with the Marketing team to maintain Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn profiles. Develop original content such as written messaging, videos, photos, GIFs and graphics specifically for the library's social media profiles. Monitor social media platforms and recommend content to share. Foster engagement with the library's audiences on all social media platforms. Make recommendations for improvement. Incorporates branding and key messages in social media campaigns, matching tone and voice with existing brand. Recommend campaigns and policies that align with the library's strategic plan and core values. Utilize editorial calendar to schedule content and promotions. Attend selected events/programs and provide real-time updates to customers. Requirements2 years of post-secondary education completed. One of the following degree tracks are preferred: marketing, journalism, media communication, public relations, literary studies, or creative writing. Knowledge of marketing fundamentals, communication practices, and SEO concepts. Experience in managing various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube. Familiarity of social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, Buffer, or Later. Preferred Technical Skills: Photography, videography, Canva.com, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, or similar. Ability to read and write English proficiently. Ability to interact with staff and the public in a consistent, friendly, and courteous manner. Commitment to quality customer service. A positive attitude and a willingness to accept direction. Proven ability to multi-task. COMPETENCIES Technology: Demonstrates strong understanding of basic computer skills coupled with an ability to quickly learn library-provided equipment and software. Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve department goals. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing duties of internship the individual typically handles office equipment, objects, or controls and frequently communicates with others. Duties require minimal physical exertion, including bending, kneeling, stooping and standing. The majority of the work is performed in an office setting or online.
