BERKELEY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INCCOLLEGE STUDENT INTERNSHIPFLEET MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT POSITION SUMMARY Internship positions are available from May through August, depending on applicant availability To provide efficient and effective support services to various departments within Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Inc, especially Facilities and Grounds and Fleet Services departments. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with shop cleaning and ground maintenance, such as sweeping floors, taking out trash and concrete floor cleaning.Assists with cleaning and maintaining a clean and safe environment in the equipment washing area.Washing and detailing cars and equipment as necessary.Assisting with handling the logistics of our pool vehicle program.Assist with maintaining a clean and safe environment in the parts room.Assist with maintaining inventory on parts and tools.Assist with document filing.All duties assigned within the parameters of all applicable federal, state, and local labor and safety laws and/or regulations.All positions are required to participate in weekly group meetings with other interns. May involve special assignments and field trips. EDUCATION Must be a high school senior or enrolled in a university or college program. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have good general office and computer skills, be detail-oriented, reliable, efficient, conscientious, and able to work with minimal supervision.Must have organizational skills.Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license.Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong ability to multitask.Must have the ability to communicate effectively and in a friendly and personable manner with employees and the public.Promptness is extremely important. Must be a team player. WORKING CONDITIONS Must work inside and outside at varied hours and varied weather conditions. Climbing, stooping,bending and lifting required. Lifting of heavy objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
