The right candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in data architecture, cloud technologies, and analytics, alongside exceptional leadership and client management abilities. The Opportunity: In this pivotal role, you will create and deploy analytics solutions that deliver substantial business impact. Working closely with data and analytics professionals as well as management and stakeholders, you will ensure the seamless conversion of business needs into effective technical solutions. Your key responsibilities will include: Transforming business requirements into detailed technical specifications. Designing, constructing, and maintaining scalable data architecture and modeling solutions. Staying informed on the latest trends and emerging technologies to keep a competitive edge. Key Responsibilities: As a Data Engineering Manager, your primary responsibilities will encompass: Leading workstream delivery while maintaining quality assurance throughout all processes. Engaging with clients regularly, participating in collaborative sessions, and identifying opportunities for additional services. Implementing resource plans and budgets effectively while managing engagement economics. This role allows you to tackle challenges that require creative solutions in a dynamic environment. You will thrive personally and professionally as you guide others and solve internal and external issues, advising on quality solutions. Regular travel may be necessary based on client needs. Skills and Attributes for Success: To excel in this position, a combination of technical and interpersonal skills is crucial. The following attributes will significantly contribute to your success: Leading the design and development of scalable data engineering solutions using Databricks on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Overseeing the architecture of complex cloud analytics solutions aligned with business objectives and best practices. Mentoring a team of data engineers, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Collaborating with clients to understand their analytics requirements, providing customized solutions to enhance business value. Ensuring data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle, applying best practices in data governance. Driving comprehensive data pipeline development, including data ingestion, transformation, and storage, utilizing Databricks and other cloud services. Effectively communicating complex data concepts and project updates to varied stakeholders. Managing client relationships and expectations, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement. Keeping current on the latest trends in data engineering, cloud computing, and analytics. Exhibiting strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on client interactions. Proven experience in successfully managing and delivering projects. Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and stakeholders. To qualify for the role, you must have: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred). 4 - 6 years of relevant experience in data engineering, particularly in cloud data solutions and analytics. Expertise in Databricks and experience with Spark for big data processing. A solid foundation in data architecture and design for complex cloud analytics solutions. Experience in leading and managing teams, emphasizing talent development and mentorship. Strong programming proficiency in Python, Scala, or SQL. Excellent problem-solving abilities with capacity to work independently and collaboratively. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on client management. Required Expertise for Managerial Role: Strategic Leadership: Ability to align data engineering initiatives with organizational strategies and drive vision. Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects and teams while ensuring timely delivery. Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in interacting with stakeholders, including executives, to comprehend needs and present effective solutions. Change Management: Capable of guiding clients through transformative data and technology processes. Risk Management: Ability to identify potential project risks and create mitigation strategies. Technical Leadership: Leading technical discussions and architectural decisions that impact project success. Documentation and Reporting: Proficiency in creating comprehensive documentation and reports that communicate project progress and outcomes. Large-Scale Implementation Programs: Enterprise Data Lake Implementation: Led cloud-based data lake design and deployment for a Fortune 500 retail client, integrating data from multiple sources for advanced analytics. Real-Time Analytics Platform: Managed the development of a real-time analytics platform using Databricks, enhancing real-time fraud detection and risk assessment. Data Warehouse Modernization: Oversaw the modernization of a legacy data warehouse to a cloud-native architecture for a healthcare provider, improving data accessibility for analytics. Ideally, you'll also have: Experience with advanced data analytics tools and techniques. Familiarity with machine learning concepts and applications. Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in data engineering. Familiarity with various cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services. Understanding of data governance and compliance standards. Experience with machine learning frameworks and tools. The base salary range for this position across the US is $125,500 to $230,200, with variations in select areas based on experience and qualifications.
