In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and optimizing PLC programs (Allen-Bradley) tailored for our innovative sortation systems. You'll manage custom databases to ensure precision and performance while maintaining essential safety documentation and checklists. A key part of your role will be leading on-site commissioning efforts to guarantee seamless integration and exceptional system performance. This position is based in Grand Rapids and offers a hybrid work model when not traveling. The expected salary range for this role is between $82,875 and $121,550 annually, based on factors such as work location, education, experience, and skills. Key Responsibilities: Build PLC programs by interpreting electrical schematics, system specifications, and functional descriptions to create robust control logic, including hardware selection and communication protocols. Design and implement PLC/SCADA programs that integrate sorter systems with external conveyor systems, managing data exchanges and system synchronization. Create and maintain detailed safety checklists and documentation, including risk assessments to ensure compliance with safety standards. Conduct offline commissioning procedures, testing safety-related PLC programs, documenting test results and any deviations. Facilitate system integration through online commissioning and validation, troubleshooting communication issues and optimizing performance. Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in automation, industrial, or material handling fields as a technician or Commissioning Engineer. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electronics, electrotechnics, electrical, mechatronics, automation, or IT engineering. Willingness to travel up to 85% of the time, both domestically and internationally. Proficiency in programming software including Allen Bradley, Rockwell, and Siemens; C++ experience is a plus.
