As a key member of the Privacy Science team within the Privacy Hub, you'll contribute significantly to protecting patient privacy amid the evolving landscape of data sharing. You'll engage with real datasets and conduct impactful research, which solidifies our status as industry leaders. Your role will also involve dynamic discussions on re-identification risk while developing your data analysis and coding capabilities. Your Key Responsibilities: Critically analyze extensive health datasets using both standard and customized software libraries. Effectively communicate your findings and progress with both internal and external stakeholders. Generate high-quality reports that succinctly summarize your findings. Contribute to pioneering research that investigates both novel and established sources of re-identification risk. What You Will Bring: Outstanding communication skills and an acute attention to detail in creating comprehensive and well-structured reports. A solid grasp of statistical concepts, including probability distributions, bias, error, and power, as well as sampling and resampling methods. An understanding of the context of real-world data, rather than theoretical abstractions. Proficiency in programming languages like R or Python for data analysis, along with a genuine interest in enhancing your skill set. The ability to apply scientific methods to practical issues through experimental design, exploratory data analysis, and hypothesis testing to draw valid conclusions. Strong time management skills with proven success in prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines. A proactive approach to independently exploring new topics that will enrich the Privacy Hub's knowledge base. An understanding of effective data privacy and security methods, along with an awareness of relevant legislation. Familiarity with Amazon Web Services for cloud-based storage and computing. Bonus Points If You Have: Experience in creating documents using LATEX. In-depth knowledge of specific health information types, such as genomics, diseases, or medical imaging. Experience working with public sector organizations, such as federal agencies (e.g., CMS, NIH, VA, CDC), state health departments, or public health research partners, with valuable insight into government data environments and privacy frameworks. The estimated total cash compensation for this role ranges from $104,000 to $130,000 USD.
