SUMMARY: The Welder I is responsible for performing high-quality MIG or TIG welding. This role requires a basic understanding of welding processes, technical drawings, and precision fabrication methods. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding applications and will ensure consistent product quality while maintaining safety and efficiency standards. This position will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates the equipment in a safe manner. Produce strong, penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent. Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process. Maintains and produces a level of output that will minimize production delays. Cleans and maintains an orderly work area. Communicate effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow. Assist other individuals in the area when needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of 0-5 years of previous experience. Ability to understand and interpret drawings. Excellent hand-to-eye coordination. Basic knowledge of hand and power tool usage. Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently following general procedures. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to operate general office equipment such as telephone, copier, fax, computer, etc. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the welding process and equipment. Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead welds with good penetration and a quality appearance. Good communication skills relative to the supervisor and other related departments. Ability to read tape measures and angle finders. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down, and overhead. Lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds may be required at times, typically from waist level and over distances up to 50 feet. This position also demands specific visual abilities, including close-up vision and the capacity to adjust focus.
