Substitute Nurse

Position Type: Substitute/Substitute Nurse Date Posted: 2/21/2026 Location: Prince Edward School Division Date Available: Until Filled Title: Substitute School Nurse Reports To: Principal/Designee FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary: To assist the school staff in providing the fullest possible educational opportunities for each student by minimizing absences due to illness and creating a climate of good health and well-being in the schools ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and nursing area as assigned 2. Follows all policies and procedures 3. Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records of students as required 4. Coordinates school health services with public health services as needed 5. Reports to parents, school personnel, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters as necessary 6. Assists with care for children with special needs 7. Prepares a list for administrators/teachers of students who have specific health problems that might require modifications of physical activities or seating arrangements in the class 8. Reports student/staff injuries and accidents to the building principal, assumes authority for care for those needing emergency assistance, and provides supervision for students until they are placed under their parents' care 9. Maintains contact with the local health department and assists in exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases 10. Assists school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Holds a valid state license as either a registered or licensed practical nurse KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license Valid Driver's License PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
