MPA provides after-sales service parts support for Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors, and Genesis. In addition to the distribution of genuine service parts, the MPA Accessories division develops accessories for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis - which are installed on new vehicles in the United States and Canada. Description The Import Specialist II, reporting to the Manager, International Logistics, ensures the timely and accurate clearance of imported MPA Parts & Accessories through U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP), a division of the Department of Homeland Security. The Import Specialist II coordinates with Parts Distribution Centers (PDCs), carriers, and the supply team to retrieve ocean and air shipments before the last free day. This position, in conjunction with the MPA Systems Group, will review all MOBIS invoices via FTP file and load them into MPA's mainframe for use by MPA's PDC's for inventory receipts, by the Finance department for landed costs and payables, and the FTP transmission to MPA's broker for Customs clearance purposes. This position will work closely with Finance, Customs Brokers, and other internal departments to ensure timely entry of import shipments into the U.S. under the rules and regulations as defined in Title 19 Code of Federal Regulations. The Import Specialist II will assist the Customs Compliance Specialist with automotive parts classifications, classification updates, and any ad hoc requests related to compliance programs including Retroactive Duty claims, Drawback programs, etc. This position will also be required to update and maintain mandatory records as well as the documentation of all shipments administered by the International Logistics department. This will help ensure MPA compliance with CBP and other government agencies and will minimize risk during CBP Compliance audits as well as MPA's exposure to financial penalties. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Work with Steamship Lines (SSLs) and monitor/track deliveries through related third-party logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of ocean and air shipments to Parts Distribution Centers (PDCs). (30%) Administer MHQ invoice downloads for air and sea import shipments, ensuring accurate data for receiving and customs clearance purposes. (20%) Assist the Manager with urgent requests involving MHQ, transportation carriers, SSLs, and airlines to maintain operational continuity and resolve escalations. (20%) Support the Team Lead in processing accessorial invoices from Steamship Lines and Carriers. Audit monthly PMS statements to US Customs for Finance approval. (10%) Assist the Compliance Specialist with claims, duty drawback filings, CF-28 responses, and other requirements. (5%) Track and log air and sea shipments daily, including ETD, ETA, and Customs Clearance milestones. (10%) Assist Manager/Supervisor with planning activities, performance reporting, and operational analysis as needed. (5%) KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Maintain landed cost within target percentage of sales through accurate invoice processing and reconciliation. Achieve compliance goal with ISF (10+2) filing to CBP within 48 hours of vessel departure. Ensure shipments are delivered on time through proactive daily coordination with brokers and carriers. Support preparation and passing bi-annual broker audits. Process MHQ air and sea shipments in AMOS daily, ensuring accurate tracking for Finance landed cost reporting. Correct entry and maintenance of all MHQ Air and Sea import documentation, including timely correction of transmission errors to reconcile purchase orders. Assist as needed to accurately process weekly XVOR (Dealer Direct) Customs Duty Invoices. Resolve routine operational issues by working with the Customs Broker and Carriers to ensure timely Customs Clearance and delivery of all import shipments. Ensure zero aging containers beyond contract terms through daily coordination with carriers and Supply Team schedulers. Review Master Schedule for discrepancies and aging containers to resolve capacity issues and carrier performance failures. Maintain communication with SSLs to update distribution lists and manage deliveries through related third-party logistics teams, etc. Monitor use of new SSLs and ensure local deliveries are properly set up. Audit and submit the Periodic Monthly Statement (PMS) from Customs for duties paid the prior month and submit in One Mobis for approval. Conduct and log Quarterly Broker documentation audits. Help maintain databases related to broker entry and parts technical information. Maintain all import documentation in accordance with Customs Recordkeeping and MPA Document Retention Policy. Support the Compliance Specialist with routine retroactive claims, duty drawbacks, CF-28's, etc. Act as backup for Team Lead and assist with planning/reporting tasks as needed, ensuring zero disruption to workflow. Provide support to other Departments as required for import and export, as well as other miscellaneous support functions as required by the MPA Coordinators and executive management. Assist with Mexico cross-border shipments as required to achieve on-time delivery by resolving any customs or carrier issues. WORK SCHEDULE 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in a related field or two years of college in Business Administration with equivalent directly related experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 3 years of required experience. Experience in import related activities, including customs brokerage coordination, freight bill and invoice auditing, and accounts payable and receivable. Experience managing inbound freight recovery from ports and airlines and compliance with carrier and customs requirements. Experience with importing automotive parts, including transportation logistics and financial reconciliation for accounts payable. SKILLS Computer Knowledge: Intermediate Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SQL Reporting Ability: Create and produce spreadsheets and month-end reporting files as required. Imports: Experience in related import activities such as broker and/or freight bill/invoice auditing, accounts payables, accounts receivables, and other import related activities. Freight Recovery: Experience in International Inbound freight recovery from Ports & Airlines Automotive Experience: Experience with an automotive parts importer in the areas of importing, transportation, and accounts payable. Reasoning Ability: Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form. Employment Type - Non-Exempt, Hourly Wage Compensation - The expected hiring range for this position is $54,363.95 - 80,186.82, depending on experience and qualifications.
