Telemetry and management of dysrhythmias required. Med/Surg experience. Blood product administration experience. Peripheral line care and management experience. Phlebotomy and starting IVs experience. Experience with insulin, PCA, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, and orthopedic trauma. Experience with surgical drains, chest tubes, and CPAP/BiPAP management. Description: The nurse will work in a trauma medical-surgical setting. Patient ratios are approximately 1:4-5. Patients will come from emergency, operating room, or intensive care units. Geriatric trauma patients are served, primarily aged 55 and older. Trauma cases include victims of abuse or violence, motor vehicle accidents, and falls. Acute care surgery cases include appendicitis, gallbladders, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, and TBI. The unit utilizes specialized equipment such as lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators. The nurse will float within the service line as needed. Every other weekend is required for scheduling. Appropriate isolation precautions must be taken. Wound care and management experience is necessary. Additional responsibilities include collaboration with interdisciplinary teams for patient care. This role includes a mix of clinical skills and patient management responsibilities. Candidates must possess the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
