Job DescriptionThe ICU Registered Nurse (RN) provides critical care to patients, exhibiting thorough knowledge of nursing principles and delivering quality patient care. The RN must recognize safety issues, assess patient needs, and respond appropriately in stressful situations. Responsibilities Assess patient’s clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual needs. Implement safe patient handling protocols and lift techniques. Function effectively in high-stress environments, utilizing strong problem-solving skills. Possess leadership abilities for prioritizing and delegating tasks. Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed. Communicate effectively with patients and their families. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current New York State (NYS) RN license. BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred. Coronary care course or challenge exam completion during orientation. Basic lethal dysrhythmia certification within six months of employment. NIHSS certification within the first six months of employment. Previous critical care experience preferred. Minimum of one successful traveler assignment required.
