OverviewThe Columbus Crew is seeking an early-career Junior Data Engineer to join our Business Analytics team. This role is focused on building and maintaining data pipelines, improving data quality, and reengineering internal processes to support business operations across the organization.This position is designed for candidates beginning their professional careers in data engineering and information systems. Strong technical fundamentals are required. Interest in sports is welcomed, but this is a data-first role.What You Will Do Develop, maintain, and support ETL integrations and data pipelinesWrite and optimize SQL queries, views, functions, and stored proceduresMonitor and validate data accuracy across multiple systemsIdentify data quality issues and implement corrective solutionsGather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into technical solutionsAnalyze and reengineer existing workflows to improve efficiency and reliabilityCreate and maintain flowcharts and process documentationDevelop and publish reports and dashboardsSupport data processes during business-critical periods, including games and eventsPerform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related technical disciplineApproximately 0-2 years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, business intelligence, or related technical workDemonstrated foundational knowledge of relational databases and SQL Technical Skills SQL (Microsoft T-SQL preferred)ETL tools (SSIS or comparable platforms preferred)Reporting tools (Tableau, SSRS, or similar)Basic object-oriented programming experience (C# or similar language preferred)Experience documenting processes and building workflow diagrams or flowcharts Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate: Has strong technical and systems-oriented thinkingEnjoys building and improving data processesIs detail-oriented and committed to data accuracyIs comfortable working cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholdersIs seeking long-term growth in data engineering or information systems This is not a sports management role transitioning into analytics. Technical capability and data proficiency are essential.Work Environment In-person position located in Columbus, OHStandard business hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30 PMOccasional evenings and weekends required to support games and events This position requires extended computer-based work and periodic attendance at organizational events.Work AuthorizationCandidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
