Instrumentation Commissioning Technician (Wharton NJ) Anax Power and Longo Electrical-Mechanical have developed the world's first natural gas turboexpander specifically designed for pipelines. This unique role pairs mission-critical engineering work for Longo's core customers (wastewater plants, power plants, and more) with innovative field work to commission the 500kW Anax Turboexpander (ATE-500). It offers the exciting growth potential of a clean-energy startup built on a foundation of a 75 year old electrical-mechanical service company. Under general supervision of the Senior Controls Specialist and guidance from Instrumentation Technician, installs, tests, repairs, inspects and maintains Industrial instrumentation, metering and recording instruments, controlling devices, data logging and display equipment, communications, and telemetry systems; and performs related work as required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: The employee is required to be fully competent to install, maintain, troubleshoot, document, and repair a wide variety of industrial instrumentation, systems, and controls. Responsible for providing maintenance support for the uninterrupted operation of essential instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment. Must be available for emergencies or job assignments on a 24-hour basis. Follows Policies, Procedures, Rules, and Regulations as outlined in the Longo Electrical Mechanical Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual. Must have the ability to work with electricians and process control operators to assist and diagnose various instrumentation and control processes. Other duties as assigned. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: High School Diploma, Vocational School Diploma, or equivalency certificate, plus two years of formal training in Instrumentation Field. During the interview process candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to use and discuss instrumentation test equipment and instrumentation loop processes. EXPERIENCE: 6 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician in Industrial, Water, Wastewater, or Petro Chemical facilities. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Employee must have a valid New Jersey Driver's License. Work will include complete installation and maintenance of electronic monitoring, metering, controlling and signaling devices used in Industrial, Power, Water, Wastewater, and Petro Chemical facilities and the various ancillary/support systems. The work covers the entire industrial instrumentation and telemetry trade, and the employee is expected to often work independently due to the diverse nature of the work. The Instrumentation Technician must have the ability to troubleshoot telemetry, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system hardware and programmable logic control (PLC) hardware. Vast knowledge and experience in the installation and maintenance of liquid and gas flow pressure, and temperature metering instrumentation and process control systems. Must have knowledge of the occupational and safety hazards and safety precautions involved in the Instrumentation Industry. OTHER FACTORS: Must be in good general health and be free from disabling physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties, of which might endanger the health and safety of oneself or others. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into Confined Spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to canister and dust masks as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing (including ladders), lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling heavy objects. TYPICAL TASKS: 1. Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, calibrates, and tests a wide variety of industrial instrumentation that record, indicate, control, and regulate level, flow, pressure, temperature, position, and variable frequency drives for various processes. 2. Troubleshoots telemetry and process controller hardware, maintains a functional knowledge of the operation of the telemetry system software and hardware. 3. Makes periodic preventative maintenance inspections of all metering control instruments, diagnosing existing or potential trouble; cleans, lubricates, calibrates, and adjusts as conditions dictate. 4. Lays out, installs, and places into service new metering, controlling, and recording devices, calibrating as required; may extend or connect to related electrical or power circuits. 5. Reads and interprets wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, point to point, mechanical drawings, and specifications in making installations or performing major repair work. 6. Has experience in modifying or construction of Industrial Control Panels and their integration to and with support systems.
