Join the Abacus family! ~ Objective of this role: To set the dials and controls on the machinery to ensure that the created product is the correct size, shape, & thickness. Set up, operate, monitor, trouble shoot, and preform preventative maintenance on assigned machinery Responsibilities: Set up and operate production machinery according to standard operating procedures. Basic math skills: ability or read measurement devices, record information, and understand the metric system with an emphasis on distance and temperature (cm, mm, c°) Precision Tools: calipers, tape measure, micrometer Technical/Mechanical skills: understand basic machine-based UIs, but not necessary. Communication and attitude: Team players who are willing to learn and help each other as a team. Effective communication and patience are key attributes for an extrusion operator. Attention to detail and time management: There are many things to be checked and checking them in a timely manner. Patience is also particularly important; extrusion is a very slow-paced job, and results are never immediate. Monitor the performance of the machine, adjusting as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency. Perform routine maintenance on the machine, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise with the machine, reporting problems to the manager, as necessary. Follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with safety regulations and to maintain a safe work environment. Maintain accurate records of production, including tracking, reporting production numbers, and documenting any quality control issues. Paperwork and quality checks Interpreting data Communication with fellow extrusion and batching colleagues. Keeping a clean and organized work area. Maintenance Blades and edge trim are the most frequent operational maintenance that occur. Cleaning magnets. Understanding the vacuum system and being able to maintain sufficient pressure. Chiller and heaters. (oil levels, pressure, etc.) Learning the palletizing systems on the iPad and PDA. (errors and sorting) Die assembly and disassembly is foundational, and crucial during peak production, proper cleaning should be done by trainers and qualified individuals. Physical Requirements: 50lbs max occasionally Lots of automated processes to help ergonomically Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 1-year experience working with Extrusion OR CNC machinery Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English Must have experience in manufacturing warehouse environment Must have great attention to detail Must have ability to trouble shoot mechanical errors that may arise during the machining process Must be willing to stand for 12-hour shifts
