We provide a variety of services to researchers at the university through standard and specialized facilities. These services include the procurement of animals and animal husbandry supplies, provision of veterinary care, use of CMP surgical facilities, a polyclonal antibody production service, technical support services, and animal use training services. To learn more, visit What We WantWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate veterinarian with strong clinical and technical abilities, experience in laboratory animal medicine, and a commitment to supporting high‑quality research. They will be confident providing medical and surgical care across a variety of species, comfortable managing clinical programs, and adept at reviewing and supporting research protocols. The ideal candidate enjoys teaching and mentoring, works collaboratively with multiple teams, and maintains the highest standards of compliance, animal welfare, and professional integrity. ACLAM board certification or eligibility and experience working with agricultural species are strongly preferred.What You Need to KnowSalary: Commensurate with education and experience.Cover Letter/Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended.Other Requirements and Factors: Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system. Works to cover shifts, or take emergency call, on evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Ability to lift and move heavy objects. No inhibiting allergies to animals, hay, or dust. QualificationsRequired Education and Experience Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) from an AVMA accredited school. Three years of related experience in laboratory animal medicine. Required Licenses and Certifications Licensed DVM in at least one state. Preferred Qualifications ACLAM board certification/ACLAM board eligibility. Experience with agricultural animals in research or clinical settingKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong clinical and surgical skills, an interest in teaching and training research experience. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Knowledge of Texas A&M University and system rules and policies. Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships. ResponsibilitiesClinical Care and Procedures Provides and directs clinical care of research animals including diagnosis and treatments. Performs surgical and medical procedures as needed. Coordinates with staff for clinical services. Clinical Program Management Establishes and maintains a comprehensive clinical program for research animals. Oversees preventive medicine and enrichment programs for research animals. Reviews research animal protocols and assists principal investigators in research studies, when requested. Staff Supervision and Training Supervises assigned staff. Oversees the training in the humane use and care of research animals. Compliance and Safety Remains current with safety classes and maintains certification or licensure where appropriate.
