Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Development Engineer to join our client's team in Erie, PA. This role is critical in ensuring the quality and reliability of purchased components and services from suppliers. The ideal candidate will participate in new product development and product life cycle management teams, acting as a liaison between Engineering, Procurement, and Suppliers to align the company's needs with suppliers' capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Participate in new product development and product life cycle management teams, focusing on purchased components. Lead efforts with the procurement team in identifying, evaluating, quoting, and selecting suppliers for purchased parts. Act as a liaison between Engineering, Procurement, and Suppliers to ensure alignment of the company's needs with suppliers' capabilities. Ensure the quality of purchased parts and services from suppliers by requesting, reviewing, and approving PPAPs and resolving any quality issues during production. Monitor supplier performance and provide feedback to suppliers. Lead re-sourcing efforts to support corporate quality, delivery, and productivity goals. Support Project Engineers in leading NPI teams, providing updates on purchased part development and PPAP status. Correlate supplier documents (Control Plan, PFMEA, Process Flow Diagram) to pertinent drawing requirements. Establish relationships with various suppliers across all commodities/categories. Provide engineering/technical support to suppliers during the development of new custom and outsourced finished parts, including plastic injection molding, die casting, coatings, outsourced lamps, wiring/harnessing, and electronics components & assemblies. Work with the Global Commodity/Category team to source parts from a technical perspective. Perform/coordinate supplier audits and self-assessments to ensure suppliers can produce parts per the drawing/technical requirements. Comply with the Technology Control Plan and Federal Export Control Policy established for the Corporation. Requirements include:Education: Undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related discipline is desirable. Experience: 5-10+ years' experience in a quality, supplier quality, or similar role. Experience operating in a global organization. Skills: Effective communication skills. Strong problem resolution skills. Certifications: Relevant certifications in quality or supplier quality management are a plus. Knowledge: Familiarity with plastic injection molding, die casting, coatings, outsourced lamps, wiring/harnessing, and electronics components & assemblies. Understanding of quality management systems and supplier relationship management.
