Job Description Title: Procurement Category Specialist Location: Maplewood, MN | Hybrid - onsite 4 days per week Job Type: Contract (12 months) Compensation: $25-30/hr W2 Industry: Manufacturing --- About the Role Our firm is partnering with a global innovation and manufacturing leader known for producing advanced materials, industrial solutions and consumer products. They are seeking a Procurement Category Specialist to help drive category strategy, supplier performance and operational excellence across the Americas. This role focuses on building a best in class supply chain within the Converting and Pack Out Services category, enabling cost optimization, risk reduction and continuous improvement. Job Description As a Procurement Category Specialist, you will lead strategy development and execution for the Converting and Pack Out Services category across the Americas. This includes consolidating suppliers, improving service levels and driving year over year improvements in cost, cash and growth performance. You will partner closely with internal teams such as Manufacturing, R D, Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain Operations while managing external supplier relationships. Key responsibilities include: Creating a high performing supply chain across the Americas that drives consolidation, reduces risk, improves service and supports continuous improvement. Developing and implementing category strategies to achieve cost, cash and growth goals. Building strong partnerships with suppliers and cross functional internal stakeholders. Identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives and Procurement best practices. Leading supplier selection, negotiations and external relationship management for complex supplier engagements. Supporting new product introductions and ensuring effective supplier participation. Managing dual sourcing, negotiation strategies, supplier performance and external supply needs for complex situations. Leading process improvement opportunities that enhance service, speed and cost through analysis of Procurement data and metrics. Implementing and negotiating agreements for complex supply relationships including VMI, consigned materials and formula based pricing. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution. Five years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, engineering or manufacturing within a private, public, government or military environment. Technology: MS Office Suite, SAP, PowerBI, Peoplesoft Experience in procurement and working with third party manufacturing or similar external partners. Strong negotiation and contracting skills. Project management experience and demonstrated success collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to appropriately engage stakeholders at all organizational levels. Strong written and oral communication skills. Financial acumen and comfort with business analytics. Initiative and a proactive, self starting approach. Experience managing complex supplier relationships. Background supporting category strategy development or large scale sourcing initiatives. Familiarity with vendor managed inventory or consigned material programs.
