Truck Driver

DEPARTMENT: TRANSPORTATIONPOSITION: TRUCK DRIVERWORK RESPONSIBILITIES:The duties of the Truck Driver as determined by SunEnergy1 standards are to include, but are not limited to: Responsible for transporting cargo from one place to another using tractor-trailer trucks or other company owned vehicles as neededOperate trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weightDeliver cargo while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes, intrastateLoad and unload cargoKeep truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working orderReport serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnelReport to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the roadMonitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestionPlan routes using maps or satellite tracking; get cargo to site on time, safelyFollow accident procedures if an accident occursFollow all applicable traffic lawsPerform pre-trip inspections and record any defects foundKeep a daily log of activitiesRecord amount and type of cargo being deliveredTransport hazardous materials WORK REQUIREMENTS: Valid CDL Class-A license requiredMinimum of 3 years of experience driving a Commercial Motor VehicleHazmat and Tanker endorsements preferredExtensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulationsWilling to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendationsNo recent moving or driving violationsAbility to drive long hours and travel regularlyAbility to multi-taskStrong written and verbal communication skillsMust be able to relate to peopleMust have the ability to work individually or as a teamMust be self-motivatedMust be well organized and detail oriented
