Maintenance Technician

About the Role: The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in keeping our nursing facility safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of building systems including basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry functions. Working closely with clinical and administrative teams, the Maintenance Technician responds to maintenance requests, addresses urgent repair needs, and takes a proactive approach to preventative maintenance. By identifying and resolving issues early, this role helps ensure a reliable physical environment that supports high-quality resident care and smooth facility operations. Key Responsibilities Respond promptly to maintenance and repair requests, following all safety and compliance protocols Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of facility systems and equipment Assist with preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend the life of building assets Support general facility upkeep, including exterior maintenance and routine lawn care as needed Collaborate with other departments to prioritize work orders and minimize disruption to resident care Maintain accurate records of work performed using maintenance tracking systems Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Clean, valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair routine maintenance issues Basic knowledge of safety standards and compliance requirements in a healthcare or regulated setting Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics Preferred Qualifications At least two (2) years of maintenance experience, preferably in a nursing home or healthcare facility Familiarity with healthcare-specific equipment and regulatory requirements Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Additional training or certification in one or more building trades Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Skills & Competencies Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Attention to detail and commitment to safety Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond calmly to urgent needs Effective communication and teamwork skills Comfort using maintenance software to track work orders and inventory This role requires the ability to work some weekends and evenings.
