Salary: $17.12 Hourly Location : Stevens Point, WI Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 202600001 Department: Parks, Recreation & Forestry Division: Recreation Opening Date: 01/16/2026 Closing Date: 3/13/2026 3:00 PM Central Summary of Job The Lifeguard's primary responsibility is to provide a safe, clean and well-maintained environment for each customer while attending the Donald Copps Municipal Pool and Waterslide. The Lifeguard will provide a positive image of the City aquatic program by attentive, conscientious, and courteous behavior on the job. Lifeguards report to the Head Guard and Recreation Supervisors. Season - Mid-May to Late August Tasks Routinely PerformedEnsure public safety, maintain order in all pool areas, bathhouses, restrooms, shower rooms, deck, pool, grassy areas, and concession stand. Watch swimmers through safe scanning practice and perform rescue/assists as necessary. Warn customers against unsafe practices. Enforce pool/waterslide rules and regulations, conduct work in a safe manner and adhere to all safety policies. Perform assigned cleaning responsibilities. Complete injury report forms, rescue forms, and vandalism/discipline forms, as appropriate. Perform first aid, CPR/AED as required Perform daily inspection of rescue equipment. Perform appropriate guard rotation/changes. Knowledge of the location and use of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Knowledge of the proper facility procedures for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Maintain proper lifeguard protocols and attire as outlined in the employee manual. Other tasks as required. Qualifications Ability to demonstrate good public relations skills. Ability to get along and work with fellow employees. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends as required. Ability to read/write and follow verbal and written directions. Must have a current First Aid Certification, Professional/Community CPR Certification, Lifeguard Training Certification, Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification preferred but not required. Ability to work in cold, rain, heat, sun, and wet conditions. Ability to bend, twist, and squat occasionally for 4-10 hours per day and lift 50-100 pounds. Must be able to continuously walk or stand for 4-10 hours. NOTE: This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive.
