Job Summary Monitor recreational areas including pools and provide assistance and protection to visitors. Duties and Responsibilities: Patrol and observe recreational areas including all swimming areas on foot or from lifeguard post. Rescue distressed people using rescue techniques and equipment as trained. Contact emergency personnel in case of serious injury. Examine injured people and administer first aid when required using training and medical supplies and equipment provided. Teach participants in swimming or other recreational activities and provide safety precaution information as directed by your manager. Notify members and visitors in recreational areas of inclement weather and pool conditions when required. Inspect pool areas and equipment for cleanliness and safety. Support country club as needed. Special projects assigned by management. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while monitoring recreational areas, have good communication skills (i.e., communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English).Must be able to swim. Performing movements which require considerable movement of arms, legs and moving entire body including swimming, running, and providing resuscitation. Must be able to work outdoors in various temperatures, work directly with the public performing services. Job requires exposure to chlorine and other pool chemicals as well as exposure to all weather conditions. Must be able to work in an open area with other employees and visitors. Experience & Education High-school graduate or GED equivalent required. Must have a valid lifeguard certification. Must be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED training. Entry level, 1-2 years' experience in a country club setting preferred. Must have experience with first aid, lifeguarding and customer contact. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Able to interact successfully with a variety of people in person with attention to comprehending information. Excellent oral communication skills as well as understanding written communication in work related documents. Must be confident of skills and have the ability to make sound, independentdecisions when appropriate; have the willingness to adjust to and conform to varying schedules; have excellent communication skills; and be able to get along well with others.
