Description Monitor and control the activities of the Logistics Department. Responsible for resource utilization, maintaining quality standards, inventory accuracy and technician productivity. Support the plant business unit goal of safety, quality, productivity and customer service. Responsible for order tracking, inventory reporting, inventory level management and cycle counting. 1st Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Monday - Friday ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Lead the day to day activities of the logistics personnel as well as temporary employees as needed. Ensure that the correct support is provided to operations and that materials are delivered from stock and returned to stock in a timely manner. Participate in the scheduling of production operations to ensure support of customer requirements. Perform routine cycle counts with assistance from Accounting to identify inventory issues and maintain proper documentation for auditing purposes. Provide feedback regarding leadership and development opportunities for direct reports. Ensure that direct reports have necessary/required training. Initiate timely communication with management to report plant/department issues as well as identifying gaps within the organization and suggesting solutions. Assist in hiring, discipline, performance appraisal and quality standards of employees to ensure that effective developmental plans are in place. Ensure consistent application of plant policies/guidelines, processes, and systems. Process incoming orders using EDI system and warehouse management system in an accurate and timely manner. Track and follow up on orders and be point of contact for customers and sales team regarding order status. Analyze shipping notices, bills of lading, orders and records to determine shipping priorities and inbound and outbound load accuracy. Review and approve freight invoices in the absence of the Distribution Manager. Generate inventory reports of primary and secondary warehouses on a weekly basis and communicate product shortages to the Distribution Manager as they arise. Ensure that Logistics operations maintain or improve product quality. Stop and correct job operation if product quality is affected negatively. Work directly with all business units, support teams (maintenance, quality, materials, engineering, etc.) and plant leadership team members to problem-solve and correct production-related issues. Work with operators to develop ways to reduce product loss and product damage. Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and of Company assets. Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area. Adhere to all GMP and HACCP requirements and guidelines. Demonstrate leadership by complying with and supporting all safety practices/requirements, and all company guidelines, processes and policies. Maintain high morale and quality focus among plant personnel, and support the plant's union-free status. Provide input on plant issues as requested. Work an eight (8) hour shift and/or overtime plus weekends as required. Demonstrate good attendance. Effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associates degree or equivalent; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve production related problems as they pertain to materials/logistics. Working knowledge and experience with computers, preferably with Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience required. Ability to effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Must be able to demonstrate good attendance. Manual and finger dexterity. Must be able to work extended hours and/or overtime as required. Must be able to participate in job development training, such as equipment cross-training and team development training. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analyses of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. When performing jobs on the plant production floor, work requires possible exposure to all temperature changes, high noise levels, working around moving equipment, electrical hazards, tanks, heights, fumes, chemicals, vibrations, dust, wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk or electrical shock. Working hours must be flexible with the ability to work on all shifts and extended hours as required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
