Primary Role As a Plant Health Care Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and improving the health of trees and shrubs. This role combines scientific knowledge, hands-on care, and client communication to ensure optimal plant health. You will work outdoors, use industry-standard tools and equipment, and be part of a skilled team that prioritizes quality, client care, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Plant Health Care & Maintenance Diagnose and treat insects, fungi, disease and other plant health issues on trees and shrubs. Apply fertilizers, pest control solutions, and plant care treatments safely and effectively. Continuously monitor plant health after application and communicate progress to clients and supervisors. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Drive and operate company vehicles and apply treatments using sprayers, injection tools, and other plant care equipment. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on all equipment to ensure safety and efficiency. Client Interaction & Education Communicate treatment plans and care recommendations to clients clearly and professionally. Educate clients on plant health, pest management, and plant care best practices. Safety & Compliance Adhere to all company safety protocols, including proper use of PPE. Ensure compliance with local and state regulations and licensing requirements. Qualifications Technicians must pass an IDA State Licensing exam for a commercial operator as an essential part of their employment. Taylor's Way will help you prepare and coordinate testing at our facility for qualified applicants. Experience or strong interest in plant health care, pest management, fertilization, or related horticultural practices. Knowledge of tree and shrub identification, pest and disease diagnosis, and plant physiology preferred. Ability to operate, maintain, and safely use plant care equipment, including sprayers, injection tools, and company vehicles. Valid Illinois driver's license with a clean driving record (no DUIs). Ability to pass a drug test. Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and excellent client service. Willingness to complete company-provided Plant Health Care training and safety certifications.
