Position Summary Under the direction of the Automation Manager, the Automation Technician is responsible for performing a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. The Automation Technician ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes and installs, maintains, and replaces electronic programmable logic controllers for the use in the manufacturing processes. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair automated production equipment to support a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and mechanical components within a production setting, including production equipment, control panels, motors, and drives, in accordance with current electrical codes. Collaborate with maintenance and operations personnel to install, modify, or replace production equipment using hand and power tools. Demonstrate understanding of line control systems and proper production sequence to maintain product flow through automated lines. Perform preventative maintenance on automated equipment to ensure production readiness and recommend third-party service support when necessary. Diagnose and test electrical systems and circuit continuity using tools such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure system compatibility and safety. Troubleshoot and repair automated process control systems and associated communication networks (Ethernet/IP). Troubleshoot and repair 4-20 mA control loops, process instrumentation, and related control equipment. Troubleshoot and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). Create, maintain, and update electrical schematics, automation documentation, and system drawings. Prepare and interpret sketches, blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&IDs. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance reliability, automation, and process efficiency. Education/Experience:Required Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude, including strong arithmetic skills Basic ability to interpret ladder logic to identify and troubleshoot system faults Familiarity with root cause analysis and basic process improvement concepts Willingness and ability to learn new systems, equipment, and processes Preferred Experience troubleshooting automated systems and PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley RSLogix, FactoryTalk) Working knowledge of current electrical codes and standards Qualifications:Required High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 1 year of related maintenance, electrical, or automation experience Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and meet the physical demands of the role Preferred Associate degree, apprenticeship, or vocational/technical certification in a related field 3+ years of related experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment About Us good2grow® is a children's beverage company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.
