In this role, you’ll provide direct support to residents while ensuring their rights are respected and upheld in a safe and secure environment.This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness—all within a collaborative and supportive team setting.Job SummaryThe Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for both participants and staff. This fast-paced, client-facing role requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to working with individuals impacted by homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and trauma.Key ResponsibilitiesEnforce Joyous Ventures’ rules and regulations consistentlyUphold policies around alcohol/drug use, harassment, and participant conductRespond promptly to emergencies or incidents (e.g., theft, accidents, medical needs)Treat all participants with dignity, fairness, and respectDe-escalate conflicts with support from the Program Manager and Clinical Social WorkerSupport conflict prevention and risk-reduction strategiesManage emergency situations, including contacting law enforcement when necessaryParticipate in trainings on trauma-informed care, racial and gender sensitivity, homelessness, and safeguardingMonitor security cameras to ensure ongoing safetyComplete accurate, timely incident reportsChange locks and manage key systems as neededSkills & QualificationsMinimum 1 year of experience, preferably in a homeless shelter or related settingAbility to think clearly and act decisively under pressureCommitment to fairness, prevention, and de-escalationBasic computer skills (for incident reporting and camera system navigation)Experience in human services strongly preferredCertifications Required:Food Handler CertificationBLS/CPR CertificationEqual Opportunity StatementJoyous Ventures is proud to be an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
