Summary The Director of Student Finance plays a critical role within the campus student finance leadership team, driving the successful execution of the local financial aid strategy. This position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders. The Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the financial aid team, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and partnering with the Financial Aid Director to guarantee the timely and accurate processing of all funding received by the campus. Essential Functions Hire, train and manage the performance of Financial Aid Advisors ensuring staff is informed of organizational policy and regulatory changes that affect Financial Aid. Maintain full compliance with institutional procedures and federal, state and accreditation regulations. Oversee campus financial aid operations and outcomes, including Show Rate, Retention, Persistence, At Risk, Bad Debt and overall Student Satisfaction. Develop, maintain, and distribute accurate reports on key performance indicators such as Show Rate, Retention, Persistence, At-Risk populations, Bad Debt, Disbursement Timelines, and Student Satisfaction. Build and maintain strong partnerships with campus and external leaders to achieve financial and student success objectives. Ensure students receive proper financial counseling to support student debt management and improve cohort default rates (CDR). Oversee the timely processing of student requests, such as start date changes, program changes, re-enrollments, Title IV refunds and stipends, etc. Lead campus-level quality assurance efforts to ensure accurate and compliant processing of both Title IV and non-Title IV funds. Monitor Pell, SEOG, and Perkins award processing to ensure the campus remains within its allocated funding limits. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations to achieve positive outcomes in internal and external audits. Regularly monitor and review staff interactions with students-both in person and over the phone-providing coaching and feedback to ensure exceptional service and adherence to regulations. Serve as the primary point of contact for military service members regarding Title IV funding and VA educational benefits, ensuring they have access to academic counseling, financial aid resources, and other student support services Act as a certifying official for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) within the VA-Once system. Develop and implement an annual professional development plan to enhance career growth. Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on departmental performance for senior leadership review.. Track outstanding student requests, refunds, stipends, and financial aid processing timelines to identify bottlenecks and improve efficiency. Maintain accurate documentation of all reporting processes for internal controls and audit readiness. Train staff on proper data entry and reporting procedures to maintain data integrity. Provide trend analysis to leadership, highlighting areas for improvement and strategic opportunities.
