Overview: Hours: M-F business hours Primary Work Location: Position is hybrid/remote work after successful completion of probation period and training. Job Description Summary: Identifies opportunities to improve quality and outcomes of care and manages pharmacy expenditures at both individual and population health levels. Educates prescribers and pharmacists regarding use of safe, efficacious and cost-effective medication therapies for highly utilized medications. Performs ambulatory clinical activities in an assigned clinic or staffing location, academic detailing and physician prescribing pattern education including travel, utilization analysis of prescription claims and prescribing data, and development of protocols and procedures. Job Description: Essential Functions: Prioritizes new initiatives to improve pharmaceutical management within the PFK population and assists the project manager on implementation of initiatives. Develop and measure clinical and financial outcomes for PFK pharmacy initiatives. This includes monitoring of utilization management for prescription medications. Develops and maintains protocols to guide prescribing therapy for select disease states, optimizing use of each managed care organizations formulary and generic and cost-efficient therapeutic alternatives. Conducts face-to-face individual/group, telephonic, and large group academic detailing, educating prescribers on select medication management issues and best practice evidence-based medicine practice. Facilitates medication therapy management / disease state management for patient populations with high pharmacy expenses, or significant opportunities for improvement. Educates community pharmacists on medication therapy management for high risk patient populations. Participates as a member of various other committees, or projects specific to the individual's expertise. This includes committee work both within PFK and at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Works in conjunction with Ohio Medicaid Managed Care Organizations and/or Pharmacy Benefit Management companies to optimize medication use policies and formulary management for the pediatric patient population. Identifies and collaborates in specialty pharmacy management through analysis, and collaborative work with appropriate clinical leaders. Performs research and develops analyses of services by hospital and other organizations, both local and national, creating assessments of best practices and opportunities for collaboration. Precepts undergraduate students, Pharm.D. students, and pharmacy residents who are completing rotations at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Supports all Partners For Kids operations, including physician and hospital relations, health plan interactions, data analysis, and outreach. Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, required. Doctor of Pharmacy, preferred. Licensure Requirement: Licensure, or licensure-eligibility, to practice pharmacy in the state of Ohio Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Computer skills including knowledge of computerized drug information databases, claims processing and database systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet preparation. Analytical skills to assemble, evaluate and understand large and complex information and studies, and to identify current and future trends. Experience: PGY-1 pharmacy residency training or population health experience, preferred.
