Who We Are: Goodwin & Associates is a cultural resource management firm with expertise in meeting local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Goodwin & Associates supports all phases of cultural resource management and project development from due diligence studies to historic property identification, to the development and execution of treatment strategies for heritage resources. Summary/Objective: We are seeking a part-time GIS Specialist position in our New Orleans, Louisiana office for up to 25 hours per week. This position is temporary and durational and expected to last up to 3 months. An extension of the duration may be considered based on workload and performance. This part-time role will assist in GIS, GPS/GNSS, and remote sensing support for our Archaeology Division. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Create project shapefiles, field maps, and other GIS-related products to facilitate fieldwork. Prepare maps and other graphics for site forms, reports, and other documents. Perform Spatial Analyses. Provide GPS support for field operations. Other related duties, as assigned and as needed. Competencies: Organizational Skills Communication Skills (Written & Verbal) Research & Technical Skills Analytical Thinking Attention to Detail Education, Experience, & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field is preferred. A GIS Certificate and a Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred. Demonstrable experience utilizing GIS in an archaeological setting without a degree may be considered. At least one year of experience using ArcGIS Pro and related software. Familiarity with GPS/GNSS data collectors. Familiarity with archaeological survey and excavation techniques and methods. Knowledge of electronic data collection tools and GIS applications. Computer literacy -competency in MS Excel and industry specific software for managing related project commitments. Ability to follow direction and to work collaboratively as a team member in archaeological investigations. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and work flows simultaneously, both independently and as a team. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey instructions, report findings, and collaborate with team members. Capacity to perform repetitive tasks; Read, analyze, and interpret data; maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time. Work Environment: Regular on-site work is required. Workdays and hours coincide with project job site and/or office hours. This job operates in the office, occasional visits to field sites for GIS support may occur. While based in our New Orleans office, interfacing and providing support to other offices may be necessary and vary upon project and billability. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
