Reading Specialist/Title 1

Education/Experience/Qualifications: Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution. Must have or be eligible to obtain a Virginia Teaching License with a Reading Specialist endorsement. Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary level teaching reading. TEN MONTH (200 DAYS), INCLUDING IN PART PAID STATE RETIREMENT & STATE MANDATED LIFE INSURANCE & IN PART FOR HEALTH INSURANCE.Essential Functions: (The following tasks are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) Demonstrate ability to diagnose reading strengths and weaknesses and develop instruction to meet individual student needs. Demonstrate ability to provide effective reading instruction and intervention in phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. Demonstrate excellent collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills.
