DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will engage in various welding, brazing, and metal cutting tasks involving both ferrous and non-ferrous materials within a County Maintenance Office. You will prepare metals by preheating and cleaning them, as well as laying out, cutting, and fitting materials for welding. Additionally, you will estimate the time and materials needed for repairs or modifications of equipment parts related to highways and bridges. Your work will also involve repairing Department vehicles, including truck and automobile bodies, engine or trailer components, and machinery used in highway and bridge maintenance. Furthermore, you will address repairs on winter maintenance equipment such as plow frames, blades, and spreaders. You will fabricate replacement or new parts for equipment modifications and repairs using various welding techniques, including oxy-acetylene, electric arc, and heli-arc, and will also handle specialized materials like stainless steel and aluminum. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or Completion of an approved welder apprentice program; or A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License. Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
