COBOL Developer Malvern, PA/NC HYBRID We are currently championing a high-stakes migration of 50+ critical COBOL reports into a modern, cloud-native architecture. We aren't doing this the old-fashioned way. Our team utilizes cutting-edge AI Code Agents (Claude Code) to accelerate reverse engineering and refactoring. We need a seasoned COBOL Developer who and wants to help bridge the gap between legacy brilliance and cloud innovation. Validating AI outputs, documenting complex dependencies, and ensuring our AI agents have the right context to succeed. What You'll Do (Responsibilities) • Code Interpretation & Mapping: Deep-dive into existing COBOL, JCL, and SQL codebases to extract business logic and map source module dependencies. • I Validation: Act as the primary "Human-in-the-loop " to verify the accuracy of AI-generated analysis and reverse-engineering results. • Context Engineering: Provide the necessary business and technical context to AI Code Agents to ensure high-fidelity migration outcomes. • rchitectural Documentation: Create clear, concise documentation of legacy workflows for the cloud engineering team. • Collaboration: Serve as the technical translator between the (Mainframe systems) and the (Cloud-native analysts and engineers). What You Bring (Requirements) • Expert-level ability to read, navigate, and document complex COBOL, JCL, and SQL. You should be able to "see the matrix " when looking at legacy flat files and DB2 queries. • Systemic Thinking: A strong understanding of how mainframe modules interact and the ability to spot hidden dependencies that might trip up an automated agent. • Quality First Mindset: A meticulous eye for detail. When the AI makes a subtle logic error, you're the one who catches it. Bonus Points (Nice to Have) • I Curiosity: Experience with or a strong desire to learn AI Code Generators/Analyzers (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot). • Cloud Awareness: A basic understanding of modern architectures (Microservices, AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus, but not required Job Responsibilities What You'll Do (Responsibilities) • Code Interpretation & Mapping: Deep-dive into existing COBOL, JCL, and SQL codebases to extract business logic and map source module dependencies.
