Employee must reside in one of the following counties: Sumter, Clarendon, Williamsburg, Florence, Darlington, Marlboro, Dillon, Marion, Horry and Georgetown. Responsibilities of the Facilities Maintenance Technician Performs hands on experience in all disciplines of maintenance, custodial and horticulture services as needed. Provide preventative maintenance (PM) as directed or according to any PM programs adopted the Agency. Becomes familiar with contractual limitations on maintenance repairs of any leased facilities in your region. Performs a walk-around inspection of the facility upon arrival and removes trash and debris as needed. Performs monthly inspections of facilities, per the monthly inspection checklist in the Facility Binder. Annotate discrepancies and inform supervisor of urgent matters. Communicate with branch manager to ensure they are aware on all matters in their facility. Monitors activities of contractors/suppliers as needed ensuring the procured goods and services are provided accurately. Evaluating present and future maintenance requirements for agency properties. Assists in the preparation of programs that determine: deferred maintenance, cost analysis and preventive maintenance. Completes assigned safety training. Reviews information on unfamiliar equipment prior to use. Asks for clarification as needed. Maintains all issued equipment in a safe and professional manner. Respond to emergency calls on a 24 hour basis. Performs all other duties as assigned by manager. Minimum and Additional RequirementsMinimum RequirementsHigh school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis for basis or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted with prior approval. Agency RequirementsMust complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing. A high school diploma or equivalent and trades experience related to the area of employment. Additional RequirementsGeneral knowledge and ability to perform all areas of building maintenance, minor construction, custodial and horticulture. A working knowledge of State Procurement regulations is a plus. Have a basic knowledge of how to operate a PC and the ability to learn to use the work order software provided. Interpret working drawing and blueprints. Complete safety training as assigned. Knowledge of what personal protective equipment is needed and wear it when performing tasks. HVAC and Electrical knowledge is preferred. Project a professional attitude. Effectively communicate orally and in writing. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision performing various trades tasks. Must be able to make independent decisions as required and be able to prioritize workloads, when necessary, in order to meet schedules and goals. Employee works out of assigned DMV office; assigned an area of responsibility but may work outside area as needed. Maintain a valid SC driver's license. Physically able to bend, lift 50lbs., climb ladders & work in confined spaces; carry a state phone; on call 24/7; work extended hours on occasion/short notice; overnight travel may be required. This position is based at SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood, SC, and may require occasional travel throughout the state, including travel to SCDMV Headquarters for meetings or training sessions. Preferred QualificationsAgency Preferred A high school diploma with a minimum of five (5) years experience directly related to the area of employment of diversified building maintenance experience.
