Quality Internship - Nonexempt Hanwha Aerospace USA has long been recognized as a leader in the development and supply of flight critical Aerospace/Defense components and assemblies. The internship requires initiative, ingenuity and the willingness to learn and the ability to work independently. Their primary role will be assisting engineers on current projects with activities such as, creating tooling and fixtures, writing manufacturing documents, developing processes and preparing presentations. They may be interfacing with the design engineering, quality engineering, machine operators, and customers. Location: Cheshire, CT Reports to: Quality Supervisor Essential Duties & Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform. Ensure process and procedures defined in the Quality Management System (QMS) are understood and followed as necessary to maintain Quality System Approvals Support internal and external audit activities (System, workstation, NADCAP, Customer, etc.) as required to meet requirements and maintain approvals Be cognizant of Export Control requirements and controls, taking necessary steps to ensure export compliance at all times Support incoming receiving inspection, raw material approvals and material cert documentation Support the quality NPI process from Contract review to delivery. Examples include Customer P.O. requirements, drawings, specifications, balloon prints and associated documents, gage reviews and special gaging needs, gage R&R studies, IMS creation and standardization and FAI forms / submittals Support the creation of in process and final IMS & FAI templates to support the real time capture of inspection data at the point of creation Actively participate in the RCCA process. Examples include daily stand-up Quality reviews, Elephant chart non-conformance tracking and SPC data collection / actions Develop understanding and utilization of statistical process control (SPC) techniques and the use of statistical software (Prolink) to establish, analyze and address quality process control data Develop understanding of CMM inspection process and techniques as part of the overall inspection process including the validation / correlation of CMM Programs to IMS Develop understanding and experience with customer submittals & approvals (Ex: ESA, VSE, DVI, PPAP) - utilizing customer web portals Attend customer training / attain customer certification for self- release programs such as PWA DQR, GE DSQR Active participant in the Company Continuous Improvement Program and Rapid Improvement Events (RIE's) Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description. 5-10% Domestic Travel required Requirements: Must be a "US Person" as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data. Pursuing bachelor's degree with 0-3+ years of relevant Aerospace, Aero-Engine or complimentary experience Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access Working knowledge of inspection techniques, quality engineering practices Understanding of data collection and statistical process control (SPC) techniques Good communication skills, capability of communicating effectively with engineers, shop personnel, management staff, suppliers and customers Physical Demands / Work Capacity Evaluation The essential functions of this position may vary based on specific assignments, work locations, and operational needs.
