This role calls for a strong leader who inspires their team, fosters a positive and hardworking kitchen culture, and leads by example every day.Position1 Full-Time Head ChefResponsibilitiesLead, manage, and train kitchen staffCreate and oversee weekly kitchen staff schedulesSupervise all cooking and food preparationEnsure all kitchen staff understand and correctly execute all menu itemsEnforce food safety, sanitation, and cleaning protocolsHandle inventory management, including counting inventory, setting pars, ordering, and receiving deliveriesTrack and manage food costs, including documenting ingredient costs and adjusting as pricing fluctuatesMaintain strong cost control practicesWork shifts alongside kitchen staff and be capable of filling any kitchen position as neededCollaborate with ownership and/or the General Manager to develop new menu items and specialsCreate menu, pricing, and facilitate catering events on site and offsiteSkills & AbilitiesAbility to cook in a fast-paced restaurant kitchenStrong leadership and management skills; able to “put out fires” both literally and figurativelyPositive attitude with a lead-by-example mindsetWorks well independently while remaining an effective team leaderExperience with inventory management, pars, and food cost controlKnowledge of kitchen sanitation standards and food safety regulationsProficient with flat tops, burners, ovens, and fryersExperience cooking lunch and dinner service itemsExperience cooking breakfast and brunch service itemsExperience with catering eventsAbility to lift and move boxes or objects up to 50 lbsComfortable using email and Google Docs or ExcelQualificationsMinimum 4 years of experience as a Head Chef (required)Minimum 10 years of experience working in a restaurant kitchen (required)Minimum 2 years of Catering Experience (Preferred)Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required)ServeSafe Manager Certification or willingness to obtain (required)NC Food Handler’s Permit or willingness to obtain (required)Knowledge of UK, Scottish, Irish, and English cuisine (required)ScheduleFull-timeDays and eveningsWeekdays and weekendsCompensationSalary: $68,000–$72,000 per yearBenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceShift mealEmployee discountPhysical SettingGastropub
