Job SummaryThe State Fleet Manager will oversee the fleet maintenance department for the state and it's day-to-day duties.Hours and Wages Exempt salary positionStarting wage: $83,000-$109,000 per year based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role Duties and Responsibilities Plan and coordinate tasks and activities of the company's fleet auto repair shop, working on a variety of gas- and diesel-powered fleet vehiclesPrepare maintenance schedules for fleet vehicles; notify drivers when maintenance is to be performedEnforce safety, DOT, and company policiesMaintain current knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and available fundingPerform repairs and maintenance for company vehicles and equipmentMaintain the state's database of maintenance and repair records for fleet vehiclesOversee the shop inventory, help fill part orders, and supplies for the stateAssist and install ELD's for drivers and set up new trucks and trailersCoordinate road calls, repairs, and recover vehicles post-accident as neededConduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructiveFacilitate monthly leadership meetingsHire, train, discipline, and onboard new staffExtensive travel is requiredPerform other required duties as assigned Skills and Abilities Excellent management skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsExtensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and operations Ability to influence, develop and maintain good working relationships across a variety of functional areas and customersStrong organizational and project management skills, including meeting deadlines and achieving resultsThorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policiesDemonstrate sound judgment and decision making considering relative costs and benefits of potential actions; critical thinking logic and reasoning to identify solutionsProficient with computer-based management systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software Education and Experience At least 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredPost secondary education in the automotive or heavy-duty field preferred5+ years of mechanical experience preferredMust hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 poundsAbility to pass a DOT physical examMust be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feetWork environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and driveWork environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair Benefits Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more.
