NEEDED: Physician Assistants or Nurse PractitionerPAY STRUCTURE: 1099LOCATION: 1640 Sky View Drive, Bruceton Mills, WV 26525SCHEDULE: Eight (8) hours per day, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays, 120 workdays. Work hours will normally be between 6:00AM and 6:00PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution. Not to exceed 40 hours per week - No Overtime.QUALIFICATIONS: Failure to submit evidentiary documentation of certifications, licenses, qualifications may result in elimination from consideration.PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS: Individuals providing mid-level provider services as a Physician Assistant must: Be a graduate from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.Have successfully completed the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examinationMaintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and re-certification.Must possess proof of a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a physician assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.Be in good standing in their profession and submit at least three letters of recommendation or reference. NURSE PRACTITIONER : Individuals providing mid-level provider services as a nurse practitioner must: Hold a graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.Have successfully passed the National Council Licensure Examination.Maintain status as a licensed nurse practitioner, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and re-certification.Must proof of current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.Be in good standing in their profession and submit at least three letters of recommendation or reference. JOB DUTIES: Provide Mid-Level Providers Services in a method commensurate with the local community.Responsible for providing: Mid-Level Practitioner Services (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) which includes, but are not limited to:Comprehensive assessments and management of uncomplicated acute and stable chronic health problems of inmatesAssisting and working collaboratively with the physician in management of selected complex medical problemsPerforming initial comprehensive medical and psychosocial screeningsPerforming physical examinations and risk evaluations of inmatesPerforming basic dental examinations and detecting abnormalities of the teeth and gumsPerforming mental health evaluations including the ability to screen for suicidal risk - conducting daily sick callAssisting the physician and other providers with proceduresAdministering medicationsObtaining intravenous access for administration of intravenous fluids and/or medicationsProviding a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician, including primary care for trauma and life-saving proceduresPerforming minor surgical procedures, such as incision and drainage, suturing of lacerations, removal of cysts, and removal/repair of ingrown toenailsAfter consultation with the physician, prescribing medications and treatment for illnessesEstablishing diagnostic impressions and requesting appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory, x-ray, visual acuity, electrocardiogram, etc.)Interpreting results and selected laboratory findings including, but not limited to, urinalysis, complete blood counts, metabolic panels, and various cultures for bacterial infection and antibiotic susceptibilityOrdering and/or interpretating audiologic testing and screening of distance and near vision as well as colorblindnessProviding preliminary interpretation of radiographs, including dental radiographs, to identify gross abnormalities such as fractures, displacements, etc.Interpretating electrocardiogram tracings and having the ability to detect cardiac abnormalities - functioning as a member of a primary care team under the direction of a physician and in collaboration with other disciplines and providersEntering pertinent clinical information in an electronic medical record system in a timely manner and following proper documentation procedures Providing Mid-Level provider services may require a significant amount of walking or bending. Standing for two to three hours at a time may be required.Adhere to all Bureau of Prisons Health Services policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines relating to mid-level provider services.
