Job Summary The IT Project and Performance Specialist plays a pivotal role in leading, coordinating, and ensuring the successful delivery of IT and cross-functional initiatives. This position blends project management expertise with performance tracking, process mapping, and continuous improvement practices to drive effective execution aligned with our organizational strategy. Collaborating across IT, Operations, Finance, and various business units, you will shape project scopes, streamline processes, uncover improvement opportunities, and maintain clear communications on progress. This role requires the ability to tailor messaging to a range of audiences—from technical teams to senior leadership—and thrive in cross-functional environments. This position is based in our Houston Corporate Office, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week, depending on business needs. Responsibilities End-to-End Project Delivery: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with project scope, timeline, and quality standards. Process Mapping & Optimization: Document current processes, identify inefficiencies, clarify handoffs, and suggest enhancements that drive performance and business value. Performance Tracking & Reporting: Monitor project status, risks, budgets, and milestones using tools like Azure DevOps; provide clear progress reports and dashboards for stakeholders. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with IT, Operations, Finance, and other business units to define project requirements, eliminate barriers, and ensure a shared understanding of objectives. Stakeholder Communication: Customize messaging for technical, operational, and executive audiences; prepare and deliver presentations, updates, and documentation. Governance & Compliance: Adhere to Murphy Oil methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid models; support IT SOX compliance and ensure appropriate controls and documentation. Portfolio & Performance Support: Contribute to the enterprise view of IT initiatives, aiding in prioritization, resource alignment, and progress reporting. Issue & Risk Management: Proactively identify risks, facilitate solutions, escalate matters as necessary, and guide teams towards resolution to maintain project momentum. Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement enhancements to project management processes, reporting tools, templates, and governance frameworks. Ad Hoc Duties: Support other project and organizational needs as required. Licenses/Certifications Preferred certifications include Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP, CSM). Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. A minimum of 12 years of industry experience, preferably across multiple functions. Five years of project management experience in an enterprise environment, engaging with various functions. Experience dealing with software, hardware, infrastructure, or digital transformation projects. Preferred experience in oil & gas operations. Strong understanding of IT ecosystems, including cloud, cybersecurity, networking, data platforms, and digital technologies. Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps or similar tools for executing and tracking projects. Familiarity with Agile (Scrum, iterative), Waterfall, and hybrid project methodologies. Ability to create detailed process maps and documentation. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of customizing messages for different audiences. Strong organizational skills and time-management capabilities. Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously in dynamic settings. Experience collaborating with offshore teams.
