Coastal/Flood EngineerKaren Clark & Company (KCC) seeks a highly qualified Coastal/Flood Engineer to join the Model Development Team to work on developing advanced catastrophe reference models. In this position, you will work closely with other scientists and engineers to develop and manage the vulnerability module of KCC's inland flooding and coastal flooding catastrophe models.Expected Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000Responsibilities Develop and maintain the building vulnerability module for inland flooding and coastal floodingEvaluate the effects of wave action, inundation depth, and flow velocity on buildings, contents, and business interruptions across construction types and occupancy typesAnalyze and apply insurance claims data in the development and validation of the vulnerability moduleCompile literature and datasets relevant to model developmentConduct post-event damage surveys after major eventsPrepare technical documentation and presentations for internal and external audiences Qualifications Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a discipline with a research focus on flood vulnerabilityDeep understanding of building performance under flood loading, including hydrodynamic and hydrostatic effects on structuresStrong foundation in probability, statistical, and uncertainty analysisExperience in numerical modeling and scientific programming using Python, R, C#, or similar languagesExperience with GIS tools, such as ArcGIS and QGIS for spatial data analysis, is a plusExcellent oral and written communication skills, keen orientation to detail, an eye for professional presentation, and recognized organizational abilitiesAbility to travel within the US or internationally with little advance notice
