This position will typically work between 7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and includes weekends as needed. Position Summary As a Physician at SWC, you will practice medicine through the assessment and treatment of individuals with intellectual and behavioral disabilities. This involves diagnosis, treatment and disposition of assigned patients, including activities such as preventive medicine, disease assessment, consultation with other medical and professional staff, prescribing medications and treatments and documentation of treatment plans and progress. Additional clinical functions include ordering laboratory work, diagnostic tests and nursing measures. This provision of medical care is part of a comprehensive program of 24/7 medical management coverage of individuals who live at SWC. Salary Information The starting pay is up to $126.13 per hour (approximately $262,300 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Qualified individuals may earn additional supplemental pay up to $21.00/hr for Board Certification or $7.00/hr for Board Certification Eligibility . A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 10/51. Job Details All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date. Appointee must obtain a DEA number by time of hire. Individuals who are required to obtain a registration in order to carry out duties in a state of federal agency are exempt from registration fees. Qualifications Minimally qualified candidates must have: Licensed or eligibility to obtain license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin. Licensure must be obtained by time of appointment. Eligibility means you are licensed in another state or have applied and are in the process of obtaining a license in the State of Wisconsin. DEA Registration or be eligible to obtain DEA Registration. Experience performing basic physical examination techniques and general knowledge of medical therapeutics Ability to diagnose and treat acutely and chronically ill patients Excellent verbal and written communication skills A well-qualified candidate will also have one or more of the following: Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental health, and maladaptive behaviors. Knowledge of behavioral science topics within the medical curriculum.
