Job Summary: Provides technical assistance to attorneys engaged in matters which involve the review and interpretation of medical information. Responsibilities: Ø Prepare medical exhibits for trial as needed. Ø Obtaining and review medical records. Ø Review medical and legal materials for information pertinent to matter at hand. Such reviews may involve the use of Westlaw, Lexis system and Medline systems. Ø Speak with physicians, hospital personnel, expert witnesses, clients, attorneys, etc. obtaining and giving information as required. Ø Interview witnesses in preparation for depositions, attend depositions as required and write depositions summaries. Ø Write reports as required. Ø Coordinate document production for major files. This generally involves document organization and the preparation of computerized document indices. Ø May draft interrogatories, answers to interrogatories, subpoenas and other pleadings under the direction of an attorney. Ø Prepare materials for Medical Review Panels and Physician’s positions papers, and legal memorandum. Ø Perform related duties as assigned. Ø Research medical issues as needed. Supervision Received and/or Given: Employees in this job receive both oral and written instructions from the attorney(s) to whom they are assigned.. They do not customarily have supervisory responsibilities but, may supervise other support staff during certain phases of large projects. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: Ø RN with currently valid license. Ø Five years experience as an operating, OB-GYN, ICU or emergency room nurse or a similarly responsible position. Ø (An LPN with significant desirable experience may be substituted for RN.) Ø Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ø Good organizational skills. Ø Excellent people skills. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Ø Ability to type a minimum of 65 wpm. Working Conditions: This position requires sitting for long periods of time while operating a computer. At times, employees are required to work in excess of the normal work schedule. Employees in this position must be mobile, have the ability to bend, and have ability to lift and carry files weighing approximately 10-15 lbs. Job Type: Full-time Schedule: Monday to Friday Travel requirement: No travel Work Location: In person
