Our Portland well established, small commercial real estate client is looking for their next Controller. This is a primarily remote role, but you must live in Portland to attend meetings. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare property and company financial statements HR - Benefits management - annual pricing of benefits and contracting Manage A/R and A/P Manage payroll Interface with Lenders and/or Mortgage Brokers - refinances, reporting, etc. Interface with accounting firm - Review depreciation schedules, capital expenses, reporting for internal controls, etc. Annual pricing, review and presentation of annual property insurance Manage property financing - Initial Strategy discussed per property with the Board Update monthly and quarterly reporting Schedule and manage all annual property appraisals Manage all property and company banking accounts In conjunction with Director of Operations, maintain 5-year capital reserve schedule Maintain property level depreciation schedules Investigate opportunities for operating efficiency improvements related to controllable expenses, including property tax appeal opportunities, and manage operating expense reimbursement processes In conjunction with Director of Operations, assist legal services with monetary impact of tenant disputes, evictions and similar payment/non-payment matters Lead oversight of contracting for and performance of annual property appraisal processes, as needed by third parties and board Annual Budgeting - Presentation to the board Quarterly Reports to the board Coordinate Quarterly audit of cash and CC transactions with accounting firm Schedule annual review of internal controls by the accountant and the board Prepare bi-weekly check runs for approval by Director of Operations Annual presentation to the Board Annual review of medical insurance coverages with the provider and Company President Job Requirements and Qualifications: Strong organizational skills in the accounting function Complete dedication to proper and maximum utilization of system functionality Consistency in the quality of work through consistent execution of processes, use of excel templates and files, and use of Shared folders. Consistency in the cadence of workflows Problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal and influential skills. Time management and organizational skills. Ability to build relationships with team members. Ability to perform work accurately, completely and in a timely manner. Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree - GAAP Accountant Experience in the commercial property management accounting and Yardi $125,000 to $150,000 plus excellent benefits
