Router table operators are responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining their own machines.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesSuccessfully operate router tables and cut boats to meet variable production goals.Program routers by accessing the proper programs. Initiate startup sequences, set plate heights and maximum depths, and set the proper “homes” on the machines as directed.Able to read calipers for measuring plate thickness and use a tape measure frequently.Work with the engineering department when troubleshooting issues with machines and/or nesting/parts programs.Successfully operate the shear as needed.Become certified in forklift and crane operation.Assist with unloading trucks during metal deliveries.Clear parts off router tables and organize them on the appropriate racks.Assist in hull bending operations.Safely use the overhead crane for material handling onto routers.Perform tool-changing operations on tables and machine maintenance according to specifications.Able to cut all boat models unsupervised.Know all table planning procedures and MDF board swaps, all hull cutting procedures, and all basic functions of router tables.Troubleshoot tables when something goes wrong.Conduct tool-cleaning and tool-changing procedures.Attention to detail on material size and thickness.Able to lift heavy parts off of tables and while bending hulls, including press brake tooling.Load and unload parts carts and push them around the factory.Prioritize all machine downtime and the order of cutting nests to maximize production.Attend and be attentive to training and continuing education.Review work orders and any other documentation to ensure quality standards are met.Take time to do things correctly the first time and proactively identify potential issues before they become problemsFollow all lawful safety and health rules and regulations, and wear or use prescribed protective equipment while working. Report hazardous conditions and any job-related injury or illness immediately to management.Other duties as assigned.Required SkillsExhibit respect, trustworthiness, and honesty.Capable of using hand tools and power tools.Understand basic functions of a computer (Windows OS).Maintain effective communication among employees and management to enhance productivity.Read a tape measure, understand fractions, simple math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.Ability to pay attention to detail, use practical judgment, and be capable of carrying out instructions.Take ownership of work and be willing to ask questions if needed.Keep tools and equipment clean and organized, and maintain a clean, safe work area.High school or GED graduate preferred.CNC router, plasma, laser, press brakes (or other brake) operator experience preferred.General machine shop experience is preferred.Fabrication experience is preferred.Forklift/crane experience is preferred.Essential FunctionsAble to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in a fast-paced industrial environment.Capable of standing all day, no sitting down on the job; repetitive use of hands and arms. Ability to walk, climb, balance, twist, turn, grasp, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl. May need to work intermittently from a ladder.Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently. When bending hulls need to be able to lift/move upward of 75 pounds, or 250 lbs collectively. Capable of lifting 50-75 pounds over the shoulder and outward frequently.Ability to work in an extremely cold and hot work environment.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Great socialization and communication with management, other department leads, and coworkers.
