Job Title: Mechanical Assembler II Department: 386 - Mechanical Assembly Reports To: Mechanical Products Production Manager FLSA Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt SUMMARY Performs various operations necessary in the manufacture of mechanical components, sub-assemblies, or final assemblies of mechanical products. These tasks are usually a manual type assembly, or manual feeding of a piece of equipment for the assembly of components or final product. Assembles parts to form complete units, subassemblies, or components. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs bench work or conveyor line or at an assigned location requiring skill in the use of assemblies, standard or special hand tools, small power tools, and other special equipment to perform the assigned jobs. May work to close tolerances requiring the mechanical ability to perform tasks as accurate fitting, adjusting, and straightening of parts. Receives detailed written and/or verbal instructions on all work. May utilize computerized presentations of blueprints, specifications, BOM's, and instructions. Interprets specifications blueprints, and job orders for the assembly of mechanical units or components. Required to obtain necessary parts or tooling from the parts carts, warehouse, and tool crib for the assemblies. Inspects received parts for proper their specifications prior to assembly process. Should exercise good judgment on the proper functioning of parts with little assistance or direct supervision. Completes assembly of units or components per drawings or specifications. Inspects assembly of units or components for accuracy, completeness, function, and quality of assembly. Reassembles or reworks units as required. Performs any load testing operations as may be required. May perform process assembly inspection of work performed by other co-worker(s), as part of assembly team efficiency and product reliability. Performs other miscellaneous duties related to but are not limited to the above job duties as requested by supervision, i.e. moving materials to and from work areas, recording quantity or quality reports and other information as required. Maintains flow of production in the department, as required by schedule and material supply. Conforms to engineering specifications, safety, and production in the department, as required by schedule and material supply. Conforms to engineering specifications, safety, production, and quality standards. Keeps facilities and work area clean and orderly exercising care in their maintenance. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE: Education: High school / GED; Technical degree or similar preferred. Equipment: Safety equipment as designated by supervision. Production equipment such as but not restrictive to small drill and punch presses, bench grinders, measuring tools, hand tools, micrometer, caliper, vernier, go-no-gauges, and other equipment as designated by supervision. Experience & Abilities: Along with minimum 1-year mechanical background experience, nine (9) months experience in the mechanical product line assembly group. Demonstrates skill set proficiency on all equipment and assembly process operations associated with assignments. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering specifications, and operation orders. Must be able to perform in-process inspection procedures of own work and/or other mechanical assemblers associated with assignments. This position must meet "US Person" Export Control Requirements as defined by 22 CFR 120.62 - "US Person means a person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)." Or a successful foreign person candidate must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations."
