Expectations are that it will be up and running and accepting patients soon. Candidates must be flexible with anything that arises during this process. ICU RNs interested in a step-down unit are welcome to apply. The patient ratio is 1:3. Average daily census is 11 with 12 rooms and 12 beds in total. Expect to assist in floating to ICU and ED as needed. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Patients may have diagnoses including respiratory failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, and stable single organ trauma. Special procedures performed on this unit involve arterial/central line management, telemetry, and chest tube management. Lifts are available in every room, along with telemetry monitoring and other specialized equipment. Candidates should be familiar with the following skills: Telemetry, cardiac telemetry, management of dysrhythmias, central line care, and hemodialysis management. Experience in post-surgical care, especially for neuro and cardiovascular patients, is highly valued. Understanding of isolation precautions and wound care is necessary. Effective communication skills and team collaboration are also essential.
