Become part of EthosEnergy's dynamic team at the Rhode Island State Energy Center, a 609 MW combined-cycle gas turbine facility in Johnston, RI. We are currently recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Intern to join us for a 10-week, 40 HPW program (No OT). Successful candidates must have a strong interest in power plant operations with basic knowledge of plant systems such as boilers, turbines, pumps, valves, etc. Enrollment into an associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year technical school strongly preferred. Job Responsibilities Perform Inspection of Watch on each system within the plant. Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, valves, and gauges. Cleaning, replacing, oiling and lubricating other component parts and equipment as required. Reads meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels, water chemistry to verify operating conditions. Performs general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the appearance of the facility including painting projects as required. Maintains the cleanliness of all areas of the plant and control room. Operate and maintains a Combined Cycle power generating facility equipment with guidance or assistance as directed by and in coordination with the LOMT. Identify and resolve CEMS problems. Assist in calibrations and gas bottle change outs. Utilizes the facility's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Outage planning and scheduling involvement Required Skills / Knowledge Strong interest in power plant operations Basic knowledge of power plant systems (boilers, turbines, pumps, valves, etc) Work well with hands-on physical tasks Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as complete individual tasks Ability to learn all facets of power plant operations. Demonstrate the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations. Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, written records. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word Learn to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's. Write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs. Learn Water Chemistry. Learn how to operate a drill press, pipe threading machine, grinder and other various tools to make and repair parts and equipment. Experience NA Education Requirements High School diploma or equivalent required. Enrollment into an associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college to technical school preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, reach, climb, and lift (up to 50 pounds).
