Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment for pre and post-operative care. Provides individualized, age-specific care that supports homeostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiological functioning. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, and assessments. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate promoting optimal patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life span. Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of individualized care plans. Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on identified learning needs, including family involvement. Supervises health care staff involved in patient care and allocates tasks accordingly. Assists physicians with procedures as needed. Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity. Participates in the development and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs and workshops. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures adequate stock of supplies. Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stress. Meets departmental competencies and adheres to infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines. Performs additional related duties as assigned. Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
